I was born and raised many many moons ago in South Elgin, Illinois, USA. I grew up in a metal working family and my father operated his own engineering business. At university I studied agriculture, biology, and veterinary medicine. I am a retired veterinarian who specialized in equine practice. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, I was a farrier. I take inspiration for my creations from members of the plant and animal kingdoms, be they real or mythical. I believe that being an artist is something that one is born to do, and not learned at school. My creations continue to evolve and and are born through practical experience, trial and error. My knowledge of anatomy is a key component in my creative process. I feel it allows me a unique insight into form and proportion and helps me bring elements of realism to abstract objects. I work in various metals and stained glass, and I currently have a studio in Wilmington, East Sussex, England on the edge of the Southdowns National Park.
